There are many reasons why you shouldn’t
store your music, photos or watch videos on a company machine. First of all,
you have no idea if your company has monitoring software which could end with
you being caught in an unpleasant situation. Another reason is that your files
may be deleted or stolen. Some of you may think by watching streaming video ,
that don’t necessarily take up any memory on the hard drive, that you aren’t
causing much harm, but streaming is actually quite straining on corporate technology
networks especially in smaller companies
that have limited band width. While you are watching the latest clips on
YouTube, you are not only lowering your productivity but also those of every
one in the company that have to deal with increasingly slow internet
connection. These video files are on average much larger then emails (100
times) and music files (7 times). “According to a study released last month by
Nielsen Online, an Internet tracking service owned by Nielsen Co., the heaviest
consumption of Internet video is during weekday lunch hours between 12 p.m. and
2 p.m., when most people are at work.” Using company bandwidth for personal
use is definitely an express rout to the front door. For More info http://online.wsj.com/article/SB120459386857809135.html
Don't get fired
Wednesday 8 February 2012
In most office jobs, the Internet is used all throughout someone’s day. I don’t think any of us can even imagine a world without having any Internet access, whether it is for work purposes or just simply browsing during leisure time. During work however, most people get tempted to start using their work computers for personal use. Such as checking personal emails, having a look at social media websites or going on chat. For most people it is just a bad habit; those people cannot go eight hours without having to check what is going on in their friend circle. This can cause many damages in the workplace. Using the company’s computer for personal use can get you in a lot of trouble with the company. Many websites are filtered out and most of the time your Internet use is being tracked by the minute. Even emails you receive and send are scanned in some cases. I have posted an article below that states 5 other ways your computer use at work can get you fired. These tips will definitely help someone who wants to continue working for a certain company. Even if your company allows you to use the computers for company use, always keep it to a minimum.

The Attachment of Death
THE ATTACHMENT OF DEATH
In the workplace, being a employee, you never want to ruin your reputation or your credit to move up within the company. You always want to stay on task, complete all work, and help other co workers when they need help. Your boss does not want to see you mess up or do anything stupid.
So, do not open all your emails that contain attachments from a internet newsgroup. www.howstuffworks.com states that someone can create a virus on a word document and then upload it into a internet newsgroup, which is circulating around small and large businesses, and anyone to open that file from the newsgroup will automatically have a virus on their computer affecting all work and may even affect others computers. Another affect of the virus is that it will automatically send the virus word document to the first 50 people on your contact list thus, affecting them aswell.
So be careful, instead of checking your personal email at work, check it at home to reduce the hazard of creating a virus. Because, the last thing you want is to be known as the person who ruined the company computers.

We
all use the internet for whatever reason it may be. Students use the internet for
school work and workers use the internet for work purposes. But that's what you
think. In reality there are workers out there who misuse the internet for
viewing inappropriate things such as they download or watch pornography, or
send sexually explicit jokes. THIS IS
WRONG! This type of action WILL
get you fired and as future business students we want to avoid getting fired
over misuse of the internet. In the workplace, employees are supposed to use the
internet for ONLY work related
inquires and not for personal use especially not for inappropriate use such as pornography. I found an article about a man who was accused of having child
pornography on his work computer. Also have a video about internet misuse and the consequences. The link is below. There are many individuals
who use work computers for inappropriate use of the internet we as
students should learn how to avoid this or getting fired in general.
